Share the Road Tour 2012

Adelaide to Melbourne: 3 -9 December

It’s a new cycling season and this year’s Share the Road Tour is on again! The Share the Road Tour is the closest that 35 riders will get to experiencing life as a UCI Pro Tour rider (sans 30,000km training per year) while raising vital funds for the Foundation.

Over the past three editions the Share the Road Tour has raised over $700,000 to help the Foundation work towards its mission of safe cycling in Australia and vision for zero bike-related fatalities. With nearly 40 bike riders killed each year and around 10,000 seriously injured, we all have much work to do to achieve our objectives while promoting cycling as a way of life for all Australians.

This year’s edition will help the Foundation enable local governments nationally to directly deliver our safety programs and campaigns into their communities, such as our  ‘A Metre Matters’ message.  The increased awareness and education that this will provide will make a difference any may just save a life – it could even be yours or someone you know.

We have introduced a 7-day Tour this year, departing Adelaide on December 3, making our way through magnificent mountain ranges and plains, and arriving in Melbourne on December 9th.  Two 4-day options are also available.

The Share the Road Tour experience is a unique opportunity to experience riding as a professional cyclist alongside some of Australia’s elite pro and former pro riders. This year we are delighted that our Orica-GreenEDGE friends are joining us on Tour!

Enjoy full mechanical support, medics on hand, masseurs and soigners on staff, the company of like-minded business professionals and full road side support from our experienced Tour staff. By registering you will commit to minimum fundraising target of $7,500 (fully tax deductible) with plenty of help along the way to achieve your personal target.

The Giro d’ Italia is in May, the Tour de France is in July, the Vuelta a España is in August, but the most important tour is the Share the Road Tour in December.
